13th 5k & No Voice

Hey NeverEver's!

Its Sunday and I know I should be doing food prep but I have a thing about touching 'family food' while sick. I don't want to get anyone else sick. Soo no food prep today...left overs next week!

Oh ya I am still sick but instead of coughing or a head cold I have lost my voice. No other issues except for a small cough. No sore throat, No bad breathing, No ear pains or anything. Just the lost of my voice. Its a good thing that my blog relies on my typing skills instead of my voice ^_~

But I go to the doctors. And they just tell me that I need to just not use my voice and if it isn't back with in 3 days then come back. Well I have a job that depends on my voice! I am still debating if I should text my boss to let her know that although I feel fine I am not gonna be able to talk with the customers. However, due to my awesome friends I am trying some more natural remedies for now.

I know it looks weird but this is 1 squeezed lemon, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. I can talk a little better after spooning this down my throat. Do you have any other home remedies? I am willing to try them all right now!

Ok so enough about my voice...lets talk about this weekend! It started on Friday night ^_~

Halloween party with some of my old co-workers and still awesome friends! It was an awesome night with laughs and drinks to be had! Although I did have to leave a little after midnight because of...

I had a Bubble Run to get to! Yup that is right I ran the next morning w/ one of my friends and current co-workers. Man can this lady run!! But the Bubble Run was so much fun. I mean look at those suds at the beginning of the run!

Ok if I had thought that the beginning was fun it was nothing compared to the rest of the 3 miles! First was pink, then blue, then green and finally yellow. Over at the green area the bubbles were so big that they were over my head! Yes I am that short ^_~

However, the run can only last so long (we all hope) and the fun had to end. I was a little disappointed that I didn't change to the Bubble Run's official shirt (I didn't know that there was color bubbles). But we finished the run strong!

My friend was able to get it done in 25:37 (she is a demon on the track!) and mine was a respectable 39:55. I am ok with that time. Actually pretty darn happy with that number to tell the truth.

However, with this run done. I have officially finished the #13in2013 races that I promised to do at the beginning of the year! It really hasn't hit me that I have been able to do this when last year I never ran. I walked and slowly at that. Now, although I am not fast I am proud to say that I am a runner. Who would have thought that I would say that? Not me from a year ago that is for sure.

So let me say it again. Just to let it sink in for me.

I AM A RUNNER.

Wow. That is something big. Especially since I got another run next Saturday.

Okay NeverEver's, I have to help the hubby get dinner ready ( i.e. I am telling him what to do by the doorway and in no way touching the food) so it is done in time for his Packer Game. Oh and my Saints won!!! Woot Woot!

Have a wonderful Sunday and I promise to have food prep for next weekend!

Running / Exercise Schedule

Hey NeverEver's!

Its Hump Day! I am of course extremely happy that we are now 2 days away from the weekend and I only have 1 more working day. Yup I am taking Friday off. Got a few doc / dental appointments that I shall be going to...and then I am free!!!

But I have been thinking that I need to share this months Exercise / Run Schedule. Also I really need to stay away from groupon / livingsocial. But this is how my month is going to look like

Monday - Boot Camp @ http://fitnessandfunbootcamp.com/
Tuesday - Barre Class @ http://www.barmethod.com
Wednesday - Bikram Yoga (I know!!!) @ http://bikramyogahermosabeach.com
Thursday - Boot Camp @ http://fitnessandfunbootcamp.com/
Friday - Day of Rest
Saturday - Bikram Yoga @ http://bikramyogahermosabeach.com
Sunday - Day of Rest

Yes I think I am insane at time but so far I am loving it. Doing something different everyday. Making sure that all my body is worked in different ways. It has been enjoyable. Plus...I paid $$$ for these things. I need to do them before they expire.

However, I also mentioned a Running Schedule.

Well here are my upcoming runs

10/5/2013 - Jedi Virtual 5k - Do or Do Not...There is NO Try
10/12/2013 - If the Shoe Fits Virtual 5k - Time to try on Belle's shoe
10/26/2013 - Pomona Bubble Run w/ a Friend & Hubby
11/2/2013 - San Diego Awesome 80's Run
11/16/2013 - Green Lantern Virtual 5k - In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No evil shall escape my sight!
(11/28/2013) - Possible Turkey Trot. Looking for a place closer than Dana Point
12/21/2013 - Los Angeles The Ugly Christmas Sweater 5k

And I am sure there is going to be another Star Wars or Beauty and the Beast Virtual Run that I just can't possibly pass up and that will be added to the list. One good thing about 5k's is that they are short. So I can schedule them in.

But what do you think about the multiple classes? Too much? Just Right? What runs are you planning?

Motivational Thursday

Hello NeverEver's!

First look who came to visit me!!

Its my Baby Nephew Adien!! He is soooo cute! And also the reason why there was no post yesterday. He is a distraction too ^_^.

The whole family has been in and out of my in-laws house (which is mine as well) visiting. But he is such a good baby. Not a lot of crying and he survived a 5 hour drive from Arizona to Cali.

Secondly, I finished my 11th 5K out of my 13in2013 challenge. Which means I am going to be waayyy passing my 13 goal, but more on that tomorrow!

Yup I went past my 3 miles and I walked the whole way...still listening to the doctors. But I accidentally kept walking ( I got lost in the music) and did over my 3 miles. Not really complaining about it but it was a perfect time to earn my Mulan!

Then I got these in the mail.

So that is 2 more 5k's that I will be completely in the next 2 weeks! But aren't they sooo pretty! I really have fallen in love with virtual runs! I do love getting the medal in the mail and just knowing that I earned it, even if I went at my own (doctor enforced) pace.

Anyways, it is time for Motivational Thursday...and less time with the cutest baby in the world ^_~

Ok NeverEver's! I am going out for a walk then some more family time when the Hubby comes home from work! Have a great weekend everyone!

Guest Post - Run. Influence. Change the world with Run 10 Feed 10.

Hey NeverEver's,

Its Tuesday! One day closer to the weekend of course ^_^. But today is also Guest Post day. And with this one...well this one is something we can all do. The Run 10 Feed 10 is an amazing run that help give 10 meals to people that are in need.

It doesn't matter how fast you go or if you have ever run a 10k before (you all know I haven't) but we can all do it! Or we can help with the fundraising.

Read on!

Run. Influence. Change the world with Run 10 Feed 10.

Think about the last time you said, “I’m starving.” Were you (really)? Think about what it feels like to be
hungry. Think about what it feels like to run. Hungry=negative, painful empty tummy. Running=positive,
energized body. Do you do both? I don’t, but I have that choice. I also have the choice to counter the
negative (hunger) with the positive (running) by participating in Run 10 Feed 10.

What’s all the hype about? Millions (like 50 million) people or more are hungry. 17 million of those
people are children. Children! In the US, 1 in 6 American children are wondering when they will get their
next meal. Think about six kids who you know; yup, one of them might be the victim of hunger, which
may impact their growth, strength and ability to learn. NO! These children are our future. These children
may care for us when we’re old. So stand up, lace up those sneakers and help our future Americans
while we still have the power to take action! Help them get fed. Help them not worry about food.

Yes, you! That’s right join the Run 10 Feed 10 initiative with Women’s Health and the FEED Foundation
(www.thefeedfoundation.org) to fight domestic hunger. I know, you’re asking what that even means.
Well, it’s as simple as lacing up your sneakers. By running a 10k at one of the seven events throughout
the United States (or you can even sign up to run your own), you provide meals to ten people in your
community. Hunger is a global problem, but a solvable one.

Run 10 Feed 10 PSA 2013

Want to know more about the FEED Foundation? The FEED foundation is an organization started by
Lauren Bush Lauren, grand-daughter of former President George W. Bush and wife of David Lauren.  The
FEED foundation is dedicated to the mission of providing meals for people throughout the globe. Even
in America, there is a hunger problem. 1 in 5 children do not know where their next meal is coming
from.   As of 2011, the FEED foundation has provided 60 million free meals to children around the globe
through their FEED Projects which includes partnerships with companies like Target, Disney, DKNY, and
more.  Women’s Health is super proud to work with an organization like FEED.  The money you raise
goes directly to a local charity in your hometown filtered through the foundation.

I, Women’s Health and the FEED Foundation need your help. It’s as simple as registering online.

Women's Health and their Action Heroes goal is to raise one million meals for people across the U.S.
Sounds like a hefty challenge, but we succeeded last year and hope to do so again. We're currently at
731,080 meals! According to the FEED Foundation website, $15 will provide $100 meals and $45 will

Monday Weigh In

Hey NeverEver's,

Welcome to Monday. It was the first Monday since I have been better and I had a plan to follow. So how did I do?

Well I didn't go swimming like I said I would. I had a small coughing attack in the morning and just couldn't get up in the morning. So swimming just wasn't happening this morning.

However, I made up for it during my lunch. But before I get into that...lets get into the Weigh In!

8/12/2013

Now to the current weight!!!

8/26/2013

198.0!!!

Yes I lost weight! I didn't gain during my sodium filled days of soup and more soup!

I am quite happy...no I am ecstatic with myself and that number!

Now before I get into Today's Workouts. I want to to do a little bit about my 5K yesterday!

I was waiting for the sun to go down. This run was done by Helping Hands 4 Life. I just loved the idea of running for one of the original woman super heros. Plus it was only $30 and the medal was awesome so I couldn't pass it up.

I wasn't able to run as much as I wanted to do. I did more power walk then anything else but I was able to do all 3 miles in 45:22 minutes. Which I am pretty darn satisfied with that.

Cannot wait to show you guys the medal when it gets here!!!

Ok on to Today's Workout.

I did a lunch workout!!! Yes the first time in the LONGEST time and it felt awesome. I was also sweating buckets so that was tons of fun.

Now as I did the Shakeology Cleanse before, I know for myself that I have to the salad for lunch or I just don't make it through the day. So I switch that up (and it is allowed) and it works for me.

Had my 2nd shakeology drink and the grapes for a snack before leaving for my rowing class!

Yes I really do LOVE this view! It is amazing, the sea breeze, light, and just plain blissfulness! But then it was time to get down o business.

Rowing class was brought to me by Elizabeth from Roworx. She is Awesome with a capital 'A'. Really worked out my whole body, legs, arms, core and butt...nothing was missed! Which is why the rowing machine is one of my favorite machines EVER!

If you are in the Long Beach area (or if you have a rowing class near you) you MUST check this place out! Awesome Fun!

So I just had my last shakeology drink for the night. I also had a cup of Blueberries right after the workout itself.

And lookie what I am starting again. Yup I am wearing my body media again and I am tracking with it. Didn't QUITE make it to my calorie burn goal but I am decently off. Tomorrow is another day.

Okay NeverEver's, it is time for be to get to bed. I am tired and I still need to take a shower. Soo have a wonderful night and I will see you all tomorrow for Guest Post Tuesday! I have an awesome one for you guys!

A New Week - Back to Business!

Hey NeverEver's!

Look who is done with coughing and feeling sick! This girl! Yay me. Ok in reality I still have a little bit of cough but I am not going to let that slow me down any more. It has been a week since my last workout...well almost a whole week and half really.

However, I am so backed up in laundry that it hurt just looking at it. Plus then it was Food Prep. I wanted it to be easy next week so I went to Fresh and Easy (favorite place) and got 4 of their 2 for $10 ready meals. Basically it has the chicken or meat already done with the flavor or herbs and you just cook it!

I also got some veggies sides that will be easy to make. Oh and I found a new bread that I can't wait to try. It is a wheat bread with Chia and Flax seeds made in. I think it is going to be yummy but as I haven't tried it yet I am not sure.

So at least my food is ready. Although for Monday - Wednesday I decided that I am going to be doing the Shakeology Cleanse.

I feel that since I have been sick and haven't been watching what I have been eating. Plus those soups have TONS of sodium, even though I tried to water them down. It is time to just re-clean out my system.

So I got my Food Prep ready, My Cleanse ready to go for Monday - Wednesday, now it is time to go for my Workout Plan.

My Workout Plan is going to be adding something different. Since my foot is still giving me pains I have decided to add in...swimming to my routine. It is a low impact, high burning exercise that I kind of suck at. Yes I am bad at swimming so really I can only get better ^_~. Anyways, here is my routine for this week.

Sunday - Unlease Your Inner Wonder Woman 5K

Monday - Morning Swim, Work, Rowing

Tuesday - Morning Bootcamp, Work, Lunch Run

Wednesday - Morning Swim, Work, Rowing

Thursday - Morning Bootcamp, Work, Lunch Run

Friday - Morning Swim, Work, Rowing

Saturday - Off

I still can't believe that I am going to be swimming. Haven't done it in FOREVER but I even got myself a water cap so I don't have to blow dry my hair to get to work.

Ok NeverEver's, I am leaving you all with that. I am going to be getting ready for my Virtual 5K today and make sure that I don't get sick again. It is good to be back and I don't want to leave again.

Ready, Set Glow 5K - #8 of 13

Hey NeverEver's!

First let me say that I feel horrible. Apparently, my little cough that I was feeling, and got from a co-worker that shall remain nameless, turned into something a little more sinister.

And that is why it was hurting to cough. Although I may or may not have made it worse by running yesterday's 5K but that is neither here nor there. What is important is that I have medicine and a doctors note for work. Yup, I got all my duckies lined up in a row.

So, I am not sure how many posts, or workouts for that matter, you are going to be seeing this week. Apparently, my body feels like it just wants to rest, and sleep, and rest some more. I have no energy at times and other times I feel perfectly normal. Just wanted to give you all a nice heads up but I should be better soon, the doc only gave me 5 days of medicine so that should mean that I will be better in 5 days (right!!!).

Anyways, what I really want to talk about is my run last night! Yup my Ready, Set Glow 5K that was in Temecula, Ca and didn't have the hill of death in it! Here is looking at you Love Mud Run and that evil hill!!

We started the night off right by stopping by the 99 cent store to get some glow sticks and some pins. Last race we were in they ran out of pins so we thought it best to keep a supply handy.

Then it was packet pick-up. Now if you never been to California...its a big state (don't fight me on this Texas). From Los Angeles to Temecula its about a 2ish hour drive. So we didn't do the early packet pickup we just came early on the day of.

Then it was time for pictures. This was Evelyn who decided to join us on the race itself! Thank you Groupon for making racing affordable for those of us that are just starting!!

Hubby was of course wearing one of his birthday gift outfits. I really thought the neon was the perfect touch lol.

I am not sure how or when I started posing like this...but it seems like I now post like this for every picture. But we were really just fooling around while waiting for it to get dark!!

And more fooling around. But this one I just had to show...for obvious reasons!

What was really nice is that Evelyn invited some of her other friends so we had a pretty decent group of runners / walkers! Actually most of them said they would be walking this 5k but the spirit of the run got into them and most of them jogged or even ran it.

Now the Hubby wanted to run it. On a side note he hasn't ran since high school but apparently he got about a 7 minute mile back then and wanted to see if he still had it. He finished the race at 30 minutes even and he wasn't even happy about it! His calf started hurting him after the first mile so he alternated between power walking and running the rest of the race...and yet he still gets a 30 minute PR. Amazing

And here is my time. 42:48 for 3 miles. It was dusty, there was soft sand every where (think beach running oy) I haven't run in over 2 weeks, plus I was sick and I still did a decent time. Oh and I ran my first mile none stop. Which in hindsight I probably should have kept that one to a slower pace so I didn't blow myself out at first.

But all in all I am pretty darn proud of my time. I am pretty darn proud that I finished and I didn't allow my sickness to stop me.

Now it is time for some more tea, cough syrup and bed time...most likely in that order. I will see you all when I can but really soon!

Monday Morning

Hey NeverEver's!

Welcome to Monday and the knowledge that August is almost half done. I am not sure where this time is flying to but it really needs to stop. I can barely keep up. I can just picture the holidays now...oh boy.

Anyways, before I start off again on how we just don't have enough time in the day. I would like to start out with my Monday Weigh In!

8/6/2013

Which I was quite happy about. Even if it was a day late but I was under 200. That is what was really important.

Now on to today!

8/12/2013

For those of you that don't have amazing eyesight (hey I took this first thing in the morning) the number shows

199.7

Which isn't surprising. I didn't work out last week. In fact I avoided it and was in a really big blah mood all week. So I am actually pretty damn surprised it wasn't a bigger gain.

So I am counting my calories, I have a workout schedule and I WILL see better results next Monday. I just know it.

But I want to talk about my workout schedule.

Yes its a home made calendar but it is something. Plus the main point is to keep me on track. So here is the plan.

Monday - Wednesday - Friday - I have a Rowing Class - Roworx in Long Beach from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. As I really LOVE rowing machines I feel like this is going to be verging on epic for a workout!

Tuesday - Thursday - I have Morning Boot Camp - Live in Fit also in Long Beach from 4:45 am - 5:45 am. This hasn't been easy to get to. I am not a morning person, but when I do wake up and workout I feel great for the rest of the day. So I am getting my ass out of bed and doing this!!

So that is the plan. This Saturday I have the Ready Set Glow 5K and on Sunday Sep 1st I have my Belle 5K (that comes with an awesome medal) so I am ready to go.

Okay NeverEver's, it is time for my lunch and I am ready to eat!

Summer is Here - July

Hey NeverEver's!

July is almost here. In fact its just a day away. I really can't believe that 7 months have passed sense the beginning of the year. 7 months of 5k's, exercises, back sliding, new jobs, started beachbody, got into shakeology and growing this blog. Its been an exciting 7 months and I really can't wait to see how the rest of the year goes!!

With that being said...let me introduce you to July's Calendar!

Isn't it so cute! I found it at http://hellocuteness.com/freebies/2013-calendars/. I wish I found this place sooner but now I found it...its here to stay!

So as you can see from July 4th to the 7th I don't have any exercises planned. The reason is because of Anime Expo. It is something the Hubby and I do every year.

Here we are from last year! This year I am not dressing up this year but Hubby is. Can't wait to show everyone. Can't so now apparently, the Hubby doesn't want it shown until its ready ^_^.

There is also another change that I have been thinking about for a while. To Gym or not to Gym...that is the question.

And I have decided to suspend or quit my gym membership for now. I have very good reasons as to why I am going to try and suspend and if that isn't possible quit the gym.

  • I have a Treadmill at work and I am actually using it (mostly)
  • I want to finish 30 days of Hip Hop Ab's - And after that I got Slim in 6
  • I have good outside weather to workout in
  • I haven't been to the gym in 2 months
I also have another reason as to why I want to suspend or quit the gym.

  • I just got a 4 week Boot Camp Program from Groupon with Live in Fit

I just want to know how I am going to survive waking up early enough to get to the 4:45 am class. Oy NeverEver's give me strength!

I will find out on Monday if I can suspend or if I have to quit. Really I don't want to quit the gym, I just don't want to keep paying for something that I am just not using.

What else does July have planned for me?

Well the Hubby's Birthday is on the 10th and I have something planned for him on the 12th. Hopefully, everything will go well ^_^.

I am also going to be training for my next 5k which is on August 17th. The Ready, Set, Glow 5k. Still can't believe that this race will be my 8th 5k this year. Only have 5 more to go to complete the 13 in 2013 challenge.

I did decide to do a training plan for this upcoming run. It seemed time to get serious about running my 5k's instead of just 'running' them. I already got my mile down from 16 minutes to 12 minutes and I am sure I can get it down more. So here is my Running Plan!

I got this training plan from Hal Higdon. I almost did the 'Intermediate' Training Plan but after really thinking about it...I am still a beginner. This is the first year I have ever ran before and while I am liking it, I don't want to kill myself or make me hate it.

Also, I loved that this plan also had Friday as a rest day as that is exactly the day I want as my rest day ^_^

So this is my plan for July. It is going to be a busy month and it looks like its all under control. I just hope the heat doesn't get to bad...I know its wishful thinking. At least the Hubby got the AC unit in yesterday.

Okay NeverEver's, So what is your plan for July? How do you feel about the gym?

Sunday Runday

Hey NeverEver's!

Welcome to Sunday! I hope you all had a great one. Well hopefully I hope you had a great weekend...let alone just Sunday. Mine was pretty great. However, I really did enjoy my impromptu date with the Hubby on Saturday. We went shopping for new sheets, still haven't found them, and ended up at a wonderful Mexican Restaurant sitting outside enjoying some live entertainment.

Well we also enjoyed our own drinks too. I got a mango strawberry, margarita and Hubby got a pineapple, coconut mojito. Which, I will admit tasted really good...even if I don't like either coconut or pineapple. But it was a really nice day all around. But we still need sheets!

But my Sunday...it actually turned into a RunDay. Which is unusual for me, but I really want this to continue. So let me explain.

As you all now on 4/15/2013 a horrible event happened in Boston. Many people, runners and not, got together and created events to support the Boston Marathon. It was wonderful that so many people got together for the Boston Marathon.

So after going through all the events I had decided on 1 that was created by RunJunkees. They did a facebook event called Runners United to Remember and it goes on until May 5th. Many people are running 2.62 miles.

I however, decided that I want to run the whole 26.2 miles. No I am not crazy and Yes you did read that right. So how am I...the person who is just getting used to running 3.1 miles going to be running 26.2 miles. Well its easy-ish.

I am going to be running 2.62 miles for 10 days from 4/21/13 to 4/30/13. I will not be 'combining' any other races into this run. So if I happen to do a 5k that day I still have to do the 2.62 for Runners United to Remember. And that is what I...kind of...did today!

I wasn't able, at that point, to complete a total of 2.62 miles. My pants decided to rip right at the seem and was chaffing way to much. So I was able to do 1.70 and I will complete the 0.92 miles tonight...in new pants! It was disappointing to know I wasn't able to complete the full milage that I wanted to, but I would have rather stopped then before a rash or more chaffing then not being able to continue my goal run for Boston.

Now this wasn't the ONLY run that I did today! There is more!!!

I also did a 5k as well! This one was for AnyWhere5k! I really do love this site. They have both free and paid Virtual Runs! This run was for Dustin Rhodes and I have to say it was really nice running for a cause. Not to say that my other races didn't have their charities but it wasn't ALL about those charities.

I am pretty happy with my time. Yes it is 4 minutes slower then my last Virtual Run for St Patricks Day Run but I haven't been working out this month. So it shows me that working out DOES make a difference.

So after 2 different runs today I am a little tired. I still got to finish my 2.62 miles tonight so I am going to be resting up for that. I will see you all tomorrow NeverEver's!

Boston Marathon - There is no Words

Hey NeverEver's!

It is with a really heavy heart that I am writing this. I was at lunch when I heard about the bombing in Boston. I know that people where hurt, innocent bystanders that were cheering loved ones on. It is my thought that most of us are still in a shock, I know that I am, and I wanted to share what some people are doing to show that we are still united!

There are people all around the running and blogging world that is going to be wearing a Race T-shirt that was from a previous race. Like Steph from OrangeSpoken and many others from facebook.

Or if you can't wear or don't have an official race shirt you can wear the Blue and Yellow colors tomorrow.

And there is also a Virtual Memorial Run that is being hosted by Run Junkees on facebook. You can run for 26.2 minutes, do a 5K, 10K, Half or Full Marathon in honor of Boston.  You can check out the Event and the Virtual is from 4/16 to May 6th.

Anyway that you remember the Boston Marathon, even if it is just in your heart, you are honoring the runners and their loved ones. I just wanted to share some of the things going around in the Blogging / Runner world.

If you have been effected by this event...my heart is out to you. Please know that everyone's heart is out to you.
