July Workout - Day 1 Stats

Hey NeverEver's!

Welcome to the first day of July. This is when Summer really starts for me. Not the First Day of Summer but the First Day of July! I hope it was nice and cool for all of you!! It was about 90 something here and I felt it. It is a good thing that there is a lovely little creation called an AC Unit. Its wonderful, not sure how people survived without it.

Yes I don't do well in the heat. Not at all. Give me rain, Give me Snow...I can dress up for that. I can use layers for it. But Heat...Oh no...there is only so much we are legally allowed to bare, and I don't cross that line ^_~.

Anyways, talking about the heat is making me sweat so I am going to change the subject to my July Calendar!

Today was Day 1 of Hip Hop Ab's!

And it was a success! Got the Hubby up...after some poking and prodding but after that it was on! We moved...We grooved and We sweated! Not sure if how much we sweated was a product of the workout or the heat. But the sweat was on!

It was a good Day 1.

However, I am proud of myself. I went above my calendar and I did an earlier workout. Although, it might have to do with that slice of cake I had half of more then anything else...

Yup I ran today! It felt good to get back on that teadmill and move! My left ankle did a little bit of freezing up on me towards in the end but I powered through and massaged it out. I am really hoping that it doesn't happen again. Not very comfortable!

Had my normal Oriental Chicken Salad today. I am actually missing cooking my own meals but as I really wont be at home from Wednesday on I didn't want to go shopping and not use it. Next week it is back ot Food Planning!

However, it is time to get on to the Stats that I promised you all!

As Monday is right after the weekend, and I usually have the biggest issue with maintaining the Healthy Lifestyle on the Weekends. I have decided that my Weigh In day will be Monday Nights. Can't really bullsh!t myself on what I did on the weekend if I have the proof in the scale.

But, as I was setting up my July schedule / calendar on Friday I weighed myself on Friday. Just to see where I was starting from and where I wanted to go. The scale on Friday said 204.4...

As you can see that isn't the number that the scale is saying now.

Yes I did a little jig (off the scale) when I saw that number. That number shows progress and I really...really like progress.

So here are the rest of my Stats:

  • Waist - 43 1/3
  • Chest - 44 1/2 (seriously!)
  • Left & Right Arms - 16 1/2
  • Thighs - 23 1/2

I did forget to measure the bum...but I will get it next time. Its been years since the last time I measured myself so these numbers aren't so much of a shock as something that I am gonna change!

Okay NeverEver's, I gotta tell you. I am feeling super sleepy right now. Gonna finish my water w/ chia seeds and head to bed. I do got some awesome stuff coming up for you guys! So make sure you make it back ^_^

Have you got a summer plan yet? When is the last time you measured yourself?

I Have Changed

Hey NeverEver's!

It has been one of those weeks. Those type of weeks were the best intentions are just ignored and its really not external reasons...just the internal ones. Except for Monday, Monday the Family was here and we had to go celebrate Father's Day a little early.

Out of 3 days this week only 1 did I have my Shakeology for breakfast...HOWEVER, Out of 3 days 3 of them I did my Lunch Run! So, that is something that I am very happy about. I mean usually its the other way around and exercising is something that I need to do more of.

Today...however, was just where I wanted to stay in bed. It was warm, It was comfy and I just didn't want to move. But the idea of a paycheck motivated me to roll out of bed and get to work. It wasn't pretty but I made it to work on time. That is when it hit me that I forgot my shakeology.

So I was feeling pretty down and just not in the mood to workout or to do basically anything. Then I saw this...

Its a powerful message in the most normal situation and in the mood that I was in...well it was doubly powerful. It reminded me that I was tired of always making plans and then not going through with them. So I made myself think about the things that I have made my goals from the beginning of this Month and what I have been able to do 90% of the time.

  • Make Dinner 5 nights of the week with leftovers for the Hubby -- Check!
  • Workout with Slim in 6 in the morning -- Negative
  • Do my Lunch Run -- Check!
  • Workout with Hip Hop Ab's at night with the family -- Half / Half
  • Have Shakeology for Breakfast -- Check!
  • No more sweats -- Half / Half
I wrote this down and I looked at it really hard...while answering calls and doing my job of course!! And I found out that I wasn't doing to bad.
I am cooking more dinners then ever,
I am drinking my shakeology and notice a difference,
I got the Hubby into working out with me...and even if I don't do the DVD's I make sure I am walking at night.
So I don't wake up when I want to workout...maybe I need to change that goal to something else
So I am not always able to turn down that sweet. But I am turning them down now more then ever.

I am doing better then last year. I am doing better then 3 months ago. I am doing better then last month.

However, that isn't even the biggest thing I discovered today. Yup there is something even bigger then me actually having more 'Checks' on my Goal List then 'Negatives'.

I look at this and still can't believe it. I have the proof in front of me. Showing me that my time is getting better. That my mile is getting faster and I am still at shock. Seriously my time at the beginning of the year was 18 minutes! 18 minutes to run a mile that I can now do in 12 minutes!

My clothes may still be the same

My scale number may not have changed that much

My body may look the same

But running numbers don't lie.

I have changed.

So NeverEver's, I am heading to a shower and then bed...I did the night workout with the Hubby while writing this. I will see you all tomorrow!

Maintain an Active Lifestyle

Hey NeverEver's!

Welcome to Monday and I hope you are having a great one! Today I was lucky enough to get a Guest Poster!! Her name is Michelle Pino and this is her post.

Nearly every person tries to find ways to improve their health and well-being. However, most folks find it
difficult to make the time for a trip to the gym or the time needed to prepare a healthy meal. In today’s fast paced society, you must find creative ways to get your exercise and stay fit. With simple tips, you can turn everyday activities into easy, calorie burning exercises.

First, start your day off right with some light stretching. Before you get out of bed in the morning, take a few minutes to stretch your arms, legs, and back. Once you hop out of bed, you can do a few more stretches for your arms, legs and back to get your blood flowing. Not only will this energize you, but you will feel ready to tackle the day.

Another great tip to get a little movement during your day is to find a great parking spot. Not right in front of the building however, but as far away as possible. This will give you a chance to get a nice walk in before you head into work. A few extra minutes of walking will help to keep your legs and joints in shape.

For most people, a day at the office can be very sedentary. However, that can easily change. If you need to speak to a coworker, instead of calling them, take a stroll to their desk. Also, if you work on an upper floor, opt for the stairs instead of the elevator. These simple steps help to improve your health in the long run.

A common tip that many folks use at the office is eating at their desk. If you take a sandwich for lunch and can finish quickly, that gives you time to take a stroll outside. A breath of fresh air in the middle of the day is a great way to feel rejuvenated and reset the mind.

Finally, a great tip for promoting a healthier lifestyle is, while at home for the evening, take a short walk around your neighborhood. This will give you some exercise, but it will also get you some fresh air and sunshine, both of which are proven mood boosters. Plus, you will get a chance to chat with neighbors, and unwind from the hectic workday.

Here are just a few ways to promote a healthier lifestyle with minimum effort. These simple steps will help you to stay on track of your goal.

You can also use Inspiration boards. They have become very popular yet highly effective way to organize your thoughts when taking on a new project. They are commonly used to plan weddings, home improvement projects and vacations, so why not use one for your fitness goals?

A “Fitspiration board" can be used to visualize your goals in a tangible form, enabling your mind and body to come together more effectively to create the changes you want to see in your physique. Here are some easy steps to help you get started.

1. Begin collecting images of people, places, experiences, or things - anything that inspires you to lead a fit lifestyle.

2. Look through everything you’ve collected and choose an anchor image. What themes do you notice in your collection?

3. Begin placing the other pictures you’ve selected around your anchor image. Your images may be very similar or all over the place depending on your style, and that’s ok. Everyone is different!

4. Reflect on what you have created. How does it make you feel?

5. Look through your notes and make adjustments to your fitspiration board accordingly.

6. You’ll know your board is "fitspirational" when you haven’t wanted to make any changes to it for at least a week. Make sure to keep it in a prominent place so you will see it often.

Here is an example:

Part of my own initiative to live a healthier lifestyle is to take better care of my body. As I get older I’m learning better ways to protect myself from harmful UV rays, unlike when I was younger and would sunbathe with baby oil. Yikes! Problem is, I love the sun: to compromise, I bought a pair of sunglasses that protects against UVA & UVB rays (similar to the one pictured from Style Bop) to help shield my eyes. Wearing sunglasses can help prevent sun damage to your eyes that could cause cataracts.

Make eating healthy food fun and exciting! Creative ways to make healthy food more enticing like these fruit skewers is a fun way to help us enjoy healthy foods. These fruit skewers are a great example for party appetizer for a summer barbeque: a great alternative to chips and dips.

Personally, I am not a super athletic person. I’ve always been a believer in It is doing what makes you feel good. So if walking and bike riding is your thing, go for it! Golf is a great example. I’ve been taking lessons near my work at NY golf course, Shenendoah, as a way to add variety to my normal routine. Doing the same old boring routine, is an easy way to lose motivation and “fall off the wagon”. Golf is great because not only is it less strenuous physical activity, but you also are able to enjoy the outdoors and walk, a lot. To me, there’s no better feeling than enjoying the outdoors.

Tip: Make sure what is on the board is what you really want. Taking the time to create and maintain a fitspiration board is a fun yet powerful way to keep you motivated on the path towards the fit lifestyle you’re yearning for.
