Lunch and Dinner is Made! Day 49 - 50

Hey NeverEver's

Sorry I wasn't here yesterday with a post. I really need to get someone else has my internet provider...it kept going in and out. Very annoying and not helpful at all when trying to write my blog post!

Anyways, I have not being doing all that great on the whole 'no processed foods' idea. It is harder then I thought especially since I didn't go to Fresh and Easy yesterday. I did go today though and picked up some peaches and chicken.

I did have a good breakfast yesterday. The tea, chamomile, was a nice change from coffee. No sugar added, although I was tempted to have some honey with it.

Was good the whole day then was surprised with one of my favorite Latino dishes...Taquitos. I couldn't say no. So yummy and chicken filled. I was able to stop at 4 though so it wasn't all bad.

Day 49 Daily Stats:

As you can see I didn't do that Spin Class I said I was going to do. I wasn't able to really get out of the house, it was just one of those days. At least I watched that food intake!

  Today wasn't my best day. Started off with a headache, didn't even do anything just woke up. So it was a very quite day until about later.

Lunch was quite an adventure though. Got the idea from SweetToothSweetLife. The tuna just looked so yummy and luckily for me I had some!

I didn't have any celery, but I needed to have something crunchy, so I diced a small apple. It was the perfect hit for the crunchy need! Also got some spinach to add some 'green' to it. Carrots were of course a necessary as well as the egg!

Have you guys tried 'Triscuit'? I love the rosemary one, it is the best one from what I have tried so far. It just has the perfect blend for a creamy topping or something salty.

Perfect little bite sized lunch was served! It really filled me up, which I did have my doubts. I still have some more tuna for tomorrow and maybe even the next day! Yay for leftovers!!

Dinner was a little more planned out. I saw somewhere an idea for chicken and asparagus, I looked for it but I wasn't able to re-find it. As I was unable to find it...and I only glanced over the recipe, I had to improvise dinner. Here was what I was able to come up with;

I cut up some chicken thighs, cooked them with EVOO and garlic / thyme. Fresh asparagus was cooked in water and the penne pasta wasn't supposed to be there but it made a nice addition.

This was Hubby approved well except the asparagus. He really didn't like that vegetable but I thought it was something different. I am going to try it in some other ways.

What do you think? The pictures getting a little better? What do you think of asparagus?

Oh and I wanted to try something new for my blog. I am going to be posting my Daily Stats the next day. So like today's will be on tomorrow's post. I just am seeing that I am missing some steps or my sleep.

NeverEver's you guys have to let me know what you think about the day later idea!

10 Tips to Eating Out and Still be Healthy

Hey NeverEver's

Today's post is all about being able to go out and not ruin your Healthy Living Plan! After eating out this weekend I felt that it was important to look up a few tips to eating out and not ruining your plan. Here are a few tips that I picked up;

  1. Try to plan ahead. Know where you are going so you can look up the menu items online. This is important so you know exactly what you are ordering so you don't veer off course.
  2. The more color you have on your plate the healthier it is.
  3. If the portion you want is to big, then before taking a bite of it ask for a 'to go bag' and place half of your meal in there. That way you have a lunch for tomorrow and you don't over eat that night!
  4. Try to look for these words 'Steamed', 'Boiled', 'Grilled'. And stay away from 'Fried' or 'Sauteed'!
  5. Don't eat to fast. You want to take your time so you know when you are full!
  6. Want Protein? Try ordering these leaner cuts of beef, strip, tenderloin, or flank steak.
  7. Having dinner but don't want the heavy dinner entree's? Try having the Lunch Portions.
  8. Try to do some healthier swaps. Having Breakfast, try getting 'Egg Whites' or 'Wheat or Whole-Grained Toast'. Lunch? try to ask for 'Brown Rice'.
  9. Try and stay away from Soda's. Instead get some water, iced tea, or lemonade. However, even with those drinks watch the sugar intake.
  10. Be careful of what some restaurants are saying is 'Light' or 'Low Calorie'. Sometimes if its low calorie its high in carbs, sugar or sodium. So read those descriptions and if you don't know then ask!
Doesn't that look yummy!

Well that is my 10 tip list. If you want to read more about it I recommend;

So get out there and enjoy life NeverEver's!

Cut 100 calories from your day!

Hey NeverEver's!

Sorry about not being here yesterday, I literally just went home and feel asleep! Stats will be up later tonight!

You know that those little calories add up. 100 here, 300 here, and before you know it you are over your calorie intake for the day. I have been there and done that. But what I wanted was some simple things I could do, or swap, that would make a difference in my calorie intake. Here is what I found;

  • Eat your fruit instead of drinking it. Normal OJ is around 165 calories but an Orange is only 62 calories. Plus the orange peel makes your kitchen smell so nice!
  • Watch what you are drinking! Of course Soda's are bad for you, even those cute 100 calorie small cans. They can add up!
  • Getting a cone for your ice-cream. Get the sugar cone instead of the waffle one! (I was surprised by this one)
  • Having chicken again? Take off the skin. Not only will it save you 4.5 grams of fat and 50 calories.
  • Did you know 3 normal sugar packs for your coffee or tea is already 33 calories. Try going for the 0 calorie sweetener.
  •  Like to cook? Try to switch out the 'oil' in the cooking and replace it with applesauce!
  • Portion size is so important! 20 years ago a muffin was only 210 calories and 1.5 ounces, today it is 4 ounces and 500 calories!
  • Leaving the cheese off your sandwich or sub can save you 100 calories by itself.
  • Try the Salad Dressing 'Spray' instead of dipping it the salad into the dressing.
  • Want a burger? Try going bunless!
This is just a few ideas that you can use to start trimming those calories down. A few steps in the right direction is easier then changing everything all at once. Well for most people anyways! Here is a few more sites where you can look up even more ideas for saving 100 calories or more;

So what do you change NeverEver's when you started on your Healthy Life Choice?

Healthy Food: Fire up YOUR Metabolism

Hey NeverEver's!

So I am horrible at my eating. I am slowly getting better but I always need help and motivation. As always this blog is about my trip to getting healthy. And I usually go back and re-read my posts to get some great motivation or make sure that I am still following the plan or doing the same steps.

So now today, I am planning to write how to Fire Up my Metabolism. This is important because I really have no idea what to eat, expect the basics. You know the rule...The more calories you eat it requires you to burn more calories to lose the weight.

Here is what I found;
  • Eat more protein. Protein is the building block of muscle. Muscle burns fat...so therefore muscle is good!
  • Don't forget your breakfast. You want to try something that is slow for your stomach to digest so you feel fuller longer. Try to mix some lean proteins, complex carbs and healthy fats.
  • Drink that cup of joe! But here is the tricky part...you really have to drink it black. A study published in the journal of 'Physiology & Behavior' found that the average metabolic rate of people who drank caffeinated coffee increased by 16% over that of those who drank decaf.
  • We all know this one...drink water! Did you know that if drank 8, 12 ounce glasses a day burned more higher metabolism then those that only drank 4 or less.
  • If your not a coffee drinker try some green tea. Adding maybe 2-4 cups a day can even burn an actual 50 calories a day.
  • Try to choose Organic Produce when you go out shopping. You don't want to be filling up on pesticides. Can't afford it? Try heading here to www/foodnews.org/fulllist for the most and least contaminated foods.
  • Like your chilli peppers? I don't but I hear that it is great raising your flight or fight senses which in turn gets that metabolism boiling!

Hope you have got some good ideas on how to fire up that body! So NeverEver's what are you going to try first?
