WIAW

Hey NeverEver's!!

Its Wednesday finally! YAY. Hump Day...only 2 days until the weekend! Plus I didn't have any food slip up's which makes today awesome!

Today, with my umm slip up yesterday, I decided to do a WIAW or What I Ate Wednesday. It was my way of making sure I didn't eat anything that I shouldn't have. Because, it is so easy to make 1 bad mistake into a bigger one by continuing it. So lets see what I ate ^_~

Started the day with some coffee and an apple.

Plus I got my water in. This was my first one!

Then it was my Lunch Run and my Lunch. Did a run with walking with some hills. I think my next 5K is going to be a little hilly so I want to be able to power walk up those sucks.

However, for Lunch I went with my Spinach Salad with Apples. It is delicious and very filling. Water to Drink ^_~

Got my 2nd water bottle of the day. Still trying to drink 3 of these things while I am at work.

Was feeling the hunger so I reached for one of my snacks. 1 cup of grapes. It is such an easy go to snack. Love it, especially when I am busy at work.

However, I did come home super hungry! If I wasn't so busy at work I would have had my other snack but just didn't have time. So when I found out that the Mother in Law was making Sopes I was SOO happy!

This is how it looked at the end. Added some of the guacamole and lots of spinach. They were so yummy! Exactly what I was needing by the end of the day.

Then it was time for the night workout. It was back to Cardio Workout and Hubby challenged me to wear weights through out the whole DVD. So I had the wrist weights and Hubby did the hand held. It really did make a workout that is becoming easier...suddenly harder. I was sweating by the end...really sweating.

Then I surprised the Hubby with a Night Walk! It was really nice out and a good way to cool down from that sweaty Hip Hop Ab's. Hubby did a nice walk while I had to power walk to make sure I didn't fall behind.

So NeverEver's, that is my WIAW. I am quite happy with it and even happier that I didn't allow a bad decision to effect the rest of my week. It is time for me to call it a night!

Do you take pictures of your food? Does it help you keep track of what you are eating?

A Day Without Power

Hey NeverEver's!

I just went through the worst thing that can happen in modern society...I went without electric power for over 8 hours!

Now, I have seen people who, when they go on vacation, turn off their phones, put away their computers and just enjoy nature. And, I am not saying that is bad, in fact I usually enjoy it, BUT they are prepared for it. They know that it is coming.

I had about a 2 hour notice and it still lasted longer then what SoCal Edison said it would. So, my day didn't go at all like I planned. My original plan was...well I really didn't have one. I really haven't been planning my days lately, which is something I will be getting better at. Anyways, I decided to drive around a little bit. It was nice weather and it was just to quite to stay inside.

I ended up at an old favorite of my family. Shenandoah at the Arbor in Los Alamitos. I completely recommend it! It is such a quite tranquil place and the food is delicious! They have these HUGE Koi Fish, seen above ^_^, in 2 ponds.

I stayed here for a while, eating a Chicken Cashew & Sprout Croissant Sandwich with fruit on the side. This is one of my favorites and I highly recommend it!

After this, I started just driving again, I was trying to find the Los Alamitos Dog Shelter but I got super lost. I did find out that there is some really nice houses over in that area.

So since I couldn't find the Dog Shelter that I was looking for I headed home. Wishfully, thinking that I would have power. Nope didn't have power.

Read a book, and stayed away from the kitchen. I didn't want to open up the fridge since everything couldn't get cold again. Then the Hubby came home (yay). But, it wasn't much better once he was home. We talked about our day, which is usual, but it didn't have to be only on commercials. Then we just laid around like we had nothing better to do. Which in Hubby's case, as he just got home from work, he really didn't have anything better to do.

But, I had TONS of energy. Not sure where I got it from but I wanted to move. I did consider going to the gym, however, decided against it since I drove TONS today and really didn't want to drive more. So, while I still had charge on my phone I went for a walk. A 2 hour long walk. It was great and my legs were all tingling (you know the feeling) by the time I was done. Again, I was hoping that the power would be back on...NOPE no power.

Which it should have been by now. SoCal Edison promised to have it on by 6pm...it was after 8pm at this point. I found the Hubby in my car charging his phone (yay for USB ports in cars now) and I joined him. In which we stayed in the car for another 2 hours hoping for the lights to be on. Didn't happen.

We ended up going to bed with no power. We actually woke up with STILL no power, it didn't come back on until around 8am.

So what is it that I learned about a Day with No Power? Many things.

  • Always keep your Nook charged...you NEVER know when your gonna need it
  • Keep your water filled up because water doesn't need to be cold
  • Sitting in the car for 2 hours isn't all that great of an idea. Not sure how stakeout ppl do it
  • You will get BOUNDLESS energy when the TV is off. So turn off the TV and get moving
  • During a Blackout you will find out how much you depend on technology, its up to you if its good or bad
Now, I know I depend on technology. It is a part of life nowadays and we really can't get away from it. But, you CAN turn it into a good thing. Maybe, you can get more energy from turning the TV off then sitting in front of it. Maybe, if you don't have my Hubby, you can bring down those board games that you haven't played in FOREVER and play them.

Regardless, what you usually do during a power outage (one that is planned or not) you can do something different. It's the power company's way of giving you a vacation from technology. It is your chance to do something different. Don't be like me that sat in a car for 2 hours but like me that went walking for 2 hours!

I will see you all tomorrow for Motivational Thursday!

Squats, Christmas Cards & Ginger Snowflakes...Oh My!

Hey NeverEver's!

So today was super busy at work...I barely had time to breath, let alone actually answer calls like I was supposed to. Anyways, I think this post might be a little short. Mainly on account of the time and I am sleepy!

Okay so first off!

The ChallengeLoop Challenge!

Check for COMPLETED! Yes I am very happy with myself on this one. My legs feel like jelly but I did it! I even completed my walk and added the squats to the end of long walk in the park. Yup feel very happy with myself right now.

On to the next one!

So I am having way to much fun with instagram, but that is why it was created. Or so I keep telling myself. Anyways, the challenge for today's #elf4health was to write a handwritten note or send a card. Well I kind of did both. I got my Besties some Christmas Cards and hand wrote a note inside!

Can I have double points for that?

I am of coursing LOVING my Elf Helper! She is amazing, the wonder Casey! Having way to much fun e-mailing each other back and forth.

Just need to get ready for tomorrow's challenge the...'Try a New Workout'. After talking about it with Casey we both decided that it wasn't cheating for me to re-do a workout that I haven't done in months. Mainly cause it FEELS like a new workout.

But I can always need a second opinion...NeverEver's would that be cheating on the challenge to re-do? Let me know!

On to the Next Challenge!

Now this one is fun. Or at least it was until today. I wasn't baking any cookies, none of my co-workers baked any cookies and there was really no way I was going to BUY a Christmas Cookie (regardless how good they looked) just for this challenge.

So, I decided to compromise. I would look at the wonderful Holiday cookies that Martha Stewart puts out on her website, take a picture of one of those AND make it this weekend. Here is what came out!

Doesn't that look like the PERFECT snowflake? Well I have to assume it does since living here in So. Cal I really don't see snowflakes at all.

Here is the recipe for the Gingerbread Snowflake Cookie. I will let you all know how to turns out this weekend!

So that is the challenges. All done and accounted for! Yay me! Here is some other news!

First, there are some amazing people out there and I am being lucky enough to meet them over Twitter and Facebook! If these challenges do nothing else they have really introduced me to some wonderful people!

Second, #fitblog chat that was hosted by Steph from @Kitchenkm was SO much fun! I have been trying to get to these weekly Tuesday chats forever but I just wasn't able to make it. Finally did so today and it was  BLAST! Steph made everyone feel welcome and I swear I will try applesauce as a substitution for butter! Oh and use quinoa for more then just soup.

Okay that is it NeverEver's! Stay warm and safe. Don't forget tomorrow is hump day and we are that much closer to the wonderful weekend.

Saturday Post: Auto Show in O.C

Hey NeverEver's,

Since I have been recently bad at not posting on time, I thought I would treat you guys to a Saturday post! Well it might already be Sunday on the EST but over here on PST I got another hour!!!

Okay, so Hubby and I went to the Orange County Auto Show. This is the first time I have ever gone to one, so needless to say I was pretty excited to see what it would be like.

Have to say this much for the Auto Show. It was pretty enjoyable to look at all the cars without all the 'Sales'. Also have to say that it was a little easier to see the different cars each brand offered, instead of going through 10 or more of the same car before getting to something new.

So we of course tried out the cars. Some of them were pretty nice and other not so much to our taste. Like this Scion, which is a great brand, but this one was their iQ and didn't have trunk space at all! But, it was fun to sit in it and stretch in the front seat!

Ya my car doesn't have anything like THAT in it. I mean look at that display screen and how nice the whole interior is. I noticed that the dash is now facing the driver more then just in the middle. Hopefully in about a year or so I can get a nice dashboard like this! Fingers Crossed!

We got a distracted driver over here!!

Have to say those Ford trucks, or just trucks in general, are getting a lot TALLER. This monster is almost taller then me! I can now say that a truck has made me feel tiny...

I personally can't believe I got the Hubby to check out the trunk space on this Dodge but he did and I LOVE it. Of course I would fully recommend this car to anyone that needs the trunk space ^_~ !

So they also had this Jeep Off Course Road that had all kind of bumps, and hills, and 30 degree inclines. We couldn't drive on it, which was a SHAME, but we rode around as passengers. The course was bumpier then I thought! Of course it was TON"S of fun even if the hill freaked me out!

Anyways, on to Friday and Today's...since today has only 30 more minutes on it...Daily Stats!

Daily Stats 73:

After relaxing from those nerves I decided it was time to take a walk. I am pretty satisfied with my Friday night. Oh and I did have the rest of my SkinnyGirl Margarita, it was the perfect end to a long week.

Daily Stats 74:

Walking that Auto Show really worked me out! What I am happy with was that I stayed away from the 'easy' food like candies and such while there. Today was a good day!

So have you guys gone to an Auto Show before?
If your here in the L.A area which is better the OC or the LA one?
What did you do for your Saturday?

Okay NeverEver's, I hope you will enjoy the rest of your weekend! I shall write you all tomorrow...after my Saints vs Chargers game!
