BodyPump Hits the Spot

Hey NeverEver's!

Welcome to Tuesday. I have been seriously thinking today was Monday...all day today. I am not very good with days lately. It has been getting slightly annoying recently so I am going to make a dedicated effort to make sure I know what day it is. That seems important to me right now.

Anyways, as you all know I haven't been to the gym since last Sunday and really that doesn't count since it wasn't a class. By counting the days since I been to the gym for a class...well that would be last Friday. So, it was with anticipation and slightly dread, I went to the gym for the LesMills Body Pump!

It has been a LONG while since I have last done a Body Pump and it felt AMAZING walking back into the GroupX room. Goodness, I even remembered the moves so I wasn't a complete beginner again. Knowing the moves really helps with the workout. Your not just standing around waiting to find out what you need to do...your actually doing it!

To me the best part of the BodyPump is that it gets your heart rate up and those muscles working. So it is really a whole body workout. The worst part of BodyPump, at least for me, is when you put the bar behind your neck and do squats. It isn't the squats that kill me it is where the bar is. It always kills me. Do you know how to make it easier to hold? My wrists start hurting and so does the meaty part of the back.

But as you can see...I was dying by the end of the workout. But all in a good way. I felt so energized that I ended up walk/jogging on a treadmill for 1 mile. I stopped at 1 mile because that is when my energy high went away and I really wanted a hot shower.

So I updated my calendar. Made it all truthful and up to date! I even added the #13in2013 Virtual Race this weekend. Plus the new Zumba Special this Friday just for St. Patricks weekend. I am sure that I will be updating it more as time goes one.

One thing about having a calendar it does keep you accountable and you can't lie on it! I do like it.

So NeverEver's, see you all tomorrow!

BodyPump Tuesday: Day 29 + Over Eating

Hey NeverEver's!

So I have gone to the BodyPump Les Mils 4 times, do you think its a habit yet? All I know is that it still takes me through the wringer. And of course I love it! I do have to say that I pushed myself a little harder in this class, I think to make up for the fact that I missed last week. I put on more weights then I have done before and I am feeling it!

Here is an after print of my shirt!

So I have to say I don't think it looks as much as from my Spin Workout from yesterday but I really felt like I did.

I do have to say I am disappointed myself with my food choices today. I was great with my pancakes, not using butter to cook it! Even better with my favorite dish for lunch, PASTA. I had a small portion and a large portion of carrots. It was only 459 calories. However, I messed up with dinner. First I didn't really have dinner I had dessert. Second, I wasn't hungry when I ate the dessert and I still couldn't stop from eating it.

So I added up the dessert calorie intake and it was 590 calories. If I had stuck with in my calorie intake from what I had left from Lunch I should have only had 373, which was fine. I already had my chicken ready for my protein after my workout.

Thinking about why I went out of my way to eat some dessert, and hiding it from the hubby, was boredom. Also, I was craving it for a while. Not that it is any excuse and I am very ashamed of myself because all while I was eating it I was telling myself 'You Shouldn't Eat This' and 'Why Are You Putting Yourself Through This?'.

Here is my Stats:

Even with me Over eating...I still Kicked @ss on my Workout!
I know that we all fall down and it is more important to make sure you get back on track! So I am not quitting this journey. It is a marathon not a sprint!

So NeverEver's how have you been able to pick yourself back up again after you fall down?

I am going to leave this here for me and for anyone else going through the same thing!

Daily Stats: Less Breaks and Eating Opp's!

Hey NeverEver's!!

So how do you measure success? I used to say that success was losing weight, not that I worked at it before this. Then when I started working out I thought that success could be measured in how long I worked out in the gym. However, now I think success is not stopping in a class. Especially in a Weight or Cardio class.

And that is what I did today! This was my 3rd Tuesday with Les Mills Body Pump at the 24 Hour Fitness Compton Gym. Found out that 3rd time is a charm in not only making sure that I continue to come back but that I also don't take as many breaks during the workout. Except those abs...I shudder to think about the 'abs' workout. Breaks are still done with that one...but there was less I do have to say!

Doesn't this look fun?!?

I think the reason why I worked so hard today on my class is because I didn't pick a 'Healthy Choice' meal. Going to Corner Bakery, and they do have healthier choices, I choose to have pasta...and not even the small one I choose the large one! I total whopping 1140 calories in 1 serving.

This means that I have to work all the harder tomorrow and learn that though I made a stumble here...it doesn't throw my whole journey out of whack. I will make healthier choices even when working out!

Here is today's stats;

Oy...Don't want to repeat today
This isn't a day that I care to repeat.

So NeverEver's how do you pick yourself back up once a mistake was made? Did it take you a long time to get back on track?

Till Next Time NeverEver's!

Workout of the Day: Day of Rest

Hey NeverEver's

I know the title might be mis-leading, today however, it really about taking a break from working out. Why is it important to do a day of rest in between workouts? Why even though we hurt, but we can push through it, might it be better just to give your body a day?

I am here to figure out the answers to those questions! Because after my Zumba from Monday, my calf's were feeling it, then my Les Mills Body Pump on Tuesday, my calf's were burning, I needed a day. Now when I get up to walk it hurts, but as I continue moving I feel fine. But I decided that I needed a day of rest. Here is what I found why some officials say this is a good thing;

  1. Rest, i.e. sleeping or laying down, is physically necessary so the muscles can repair, strengthen and rebuild. I touched upon this on my Muscle Soreness
  2. You are 'Adapting to Exercise' or 'The Principle of Adaptation' is when you first start building a new skill it is hard and it gets easier over time. So when you first start working out it is harder, especially if you haven't done it before or are carrying around 2 of you in 1 body, rest days are important so you can build up your body.
  3. Taking a day off doesn't always mean not doing anything. Depending on where you are feeling it, you can go for a walk, do some yoga (waiting on that one), even some Pilates (the easier classes).
  4. Don't forget that it is important to give your 'Mental Muscles' a rest. You have been on a mantra '1 more lap' or 'Go for the Gold' during your workouts that it is important to give that a break so you can hit it harder tomorrow!
  5. This one is my favorite, although most expensive, get a massage! Not only does it do those muscles good...but okay its bloody decadent to get the rub down.
  6. If you are doing workout classes at your gym or other location, make sure to give your body rest between vigorous classes.
  7. You know your body the best...listen to it. Take a moment and breath and see what it is telling you. If you are good to go then go, if not take a day.
  8. Try to aim for AT LEAST 1 day a week with no workout. If you are a beginner you might want to try for 2 days off, just not back to back.

So I hope you all can see the benefit of taking a day off every once in a while. Just make sure you get back on that workout 'horse' tomorrow!

Nice muscles...I bet they take days off too!
Have a wonderful night NeverEver's! Don't forget to listen to your body!

Day 8: Les Mills #2

Hey NeverEver's!

I know I am doing back to back posts. Sorry! But I really wanted to get that Snack of the Day post out since I haven't done it in so long...and of course I HAVE to do my Daily Stats.

Daily Stats for me are extremely important. It is my way of showing the world that I either succeeded, failed, or did so-so. There is no way I can actually lie on these posts (I do not have photoshop...every one of these pics is done in Paint...Yes I am a ballin Paint user) and I do what to show my progress from NeverEverBeenSkinny to NeverEverUnHealthyAgain!

So as some of you read before I started a new job today. Now while that is an interesting experience in itself, there is nothing like the first day of anything, I had to get back to the Les Mills Body Pump class at my 24 Hour Fitness Compton Sport!

As the survivor of 2, yes 2, classes I can happily report that this class was easier then the first one. I still had to take my breaks, and I still hate those push-ups, but it didn't hurt my arm as much when we had to lift the barbell to the 'meaty' part of our backs. I was also able to remember the moves so I didn't have to take the whole class with my neck in a weird position watching the instructor! However, I did feel that position in my wrists...which means I need to keep them straight. I will keep working on that!

So without further talking here is my Daily Stats for Day 8:

I would have never believed days like this could have existed!
This is the type of day that I want to remember for when I don't want to workout! This feeling of accomplishment!

So NeverEver's this is my day stats. How did you do today? Are you happy as well?

Workout of the Day: Les Mills Body Pump Edition!

NeverEverBeenSkinny @ss kicking workout!

So I just got out of one of the many classes that are offered by 24 Hour Fitness. Today was Les Mills Body Pump class. Its basically a weight class that hits your legs, back and arms at different intervals and not allowing more then a 10-30 second break between sets.

I will say this...I was sweating. Which means something was being done right. hardest part of the workout was when we were doing the Behind the Head Press. Apparently my arms haven't been bent in that direction in a while so it was challenging.

As always here is my stats today from BodyMedia!

As you can see I didn't hit my 'Steps Taken' quota nor my 'Calories Burned' but I have more calories out then in and that is what is important!

That is it for today NeverEvers!
